Accutane – Risks to Pregnancy

Recently I received an email requesting the addition of a resource to my website. I am sympathetic to any cause that desires to help women in pregnancy and childbirth. As a believer in patient advocacy I believe the information they shared is worthy of posting here.

There is a current Black Box warning on Accutane, cautions consumers about its potential to harm unborn children that include birth defects, premature births and even death in babies when a mother has taken the drug. Additional serious side effects associated with Accutane use include depression, colitis, and liver disease. The drug is causing a significant amount of damage and serious harm to patients.

Accutane is a very dangerous drug to use even if your not pregnant. The thought of a mother putting accutane into her bloodstream and passing it on to her baby is frightening. I cant believe accutane has not been ban or black labeled.
