Are You Authentic?
Posted on March 3, 2008
At a seminar today, the speaker was talking about authenticity. She used three categories: 1) your inner voice, 2) your external voice, and 3) your expressive voice. There were a few things she said today that I found interesting.
She talked about wealth in the terms of abundance. Many people mistake wealth and abundance for money. If you have ever experienced infertility first hand, it’s likely that once you have a child you are full of abundance that many people take for granted. If you’ve had a premature baby, who survived and/or is healthy today, you again experience a type of abundance most people cannot appreciate. I believe I am a wealthy person, and it has nothing to do with money!
She mentioned a network full of quality relationships. If you’re in the midst of infertility or any other medical crisis, you must have at least one quality relationship, that one person you can call in your darkest hour to listen to you without passing judgment.
But the one point she made that had the most impact was Legacy. How are you communicating your gift to the world? Everyone has natural gifts and talents. It’s our duty to share these with the world. I truly don’t know what my natural talent it, but I do know what I am passionate about. And maybe it is my passion which will create my legacy. My book has helped other couples in the midst of infertility and at least one woman admitted to me my book helped her overcome postpartum depression. I’ve made a difference in a few lives and I’m thankful I was able to help.
What will you share with the world?
