If you have ever experienced infertility or know someone who has, you probably know that infertility treatments are only covered by insurance mandates in 15 states. A few women passionate about helping other women in their journey to become mothers have created an effort called Union To Expedite Relief Until Self-Fulfillment. Meaning, they are helping raise money for women still in the middle of infertility treatments until they become pregnant (or until insurance coverage exists nationwide, which might not be for some time).
If you have an item you’d be willing to donate, click on the link to Union To Expedite Relief Until Self-Fulfillment and read about the effort and how it works. I’ve offered up 20 autographed copies of my book Tiny Toes. It makes me sad that so many women and couples have to determine their family building efforts based on what they can aford. Most people don’t understand the financial AND emotional drain of infertility.
At a lunch today a woman was telling me about a friend of hers suffering with depression because of her infertility struggles. The infertile woman has lost her job because of her emotional state and refuses kindness from any one, in any form. I guess she was brought a sandwich and she threw it on the floor stating “She didn’t need to eat.” I get it. But what makes me so sad, is that some women might never become pregnant or they might decide to live child free, and they’ll be changed forever in a way that part of them has died.
If you have any item you are willing to donate to the eBay auction, please do.
